The River that Reaches the Shore is a cello and piano duet, depicting the journey a river takes as it leaves its home in the mountains toward the sea, shifting between calm waters and tumbling rapids. This piece takes inspiration from the Studio Ghibli movie Ponyo and its soundtrack.

This piece was premiered on April 2022 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia by cellist Avery Suhay and pianist Joe Ritchie.
